Rigorous Curriculum Cohort
The Kummer Center for STEM Education is proud to announce FREE open-sourced, rigorous curriculum for the following areas: 6th-8th grade science and biology (NEW) curriculum!
The Kummer Center for Stem Education presented the first Rigorous Curriculum Cohort in the summer of 2022. It was a focus on 6th-8th grade science with a unique collaborative opportunity to write and develop systematic curriculum with STEM-focused units of instruction. This cohort also included coaching and feedback in the classroom as well as collaboration and networking across districts in Missouri. This has been such a huge success verified by actual Missouri teachers with increased standardized test scores.
We have since expanded our open-source rigorous curriculum cohorts to include high school and elementary science in addition to our middle school math which started in 2026.
To access the curriculum, you must click on the link below to watch the video and complete the assessment. Make sure to click on either the middle school science or biology assessment link to receive access to appropriate curriculum. It should take approximately one hour to complete the video and assessment. Once you have completed the assessment, you will receive an email with instructions on how to access the curriculum within five business days. This curriculum was a collaboration with middle school teachers and/or high school teachers across the state of Missouri and facilitated by Connie Cromwell, Courtney Jones, and Marsha Smith. All of the curriculum is based on Missouri Learning Standards.
