STEM Day
November 5, 2025 (7th–12th grade)
The Kummer Center for STEM Education brings around 1,000 jr. high and high school students on campus in recognition of National STEM Day. Our mission is to ignite the STEM spark in these students and show them what a future as a STEM professional could mean for them. We do this with the help of the S&T departments. We accomplish this through exciting workshops, demos, tours, etc... that students can attend in order to get them excited about STEM! This has been a huge success for the last three years and we plan for an even better experience in 2025!
Education Day with Athletics - Cancelled Due to Scheduling Conflicts
We hope to bring Education Day back in the fall of 2026!
STEM in the Shadows: A Spooktacular Family Adventure!
October 24, 2025 (K-12th grade) 4-8 PM
The Kummer Center for STEM Education is partnering with the Mining and Explosives Engineering Department to host STEM in the Shadows at the Missouri S&T Experimental Mine. We invite you to bring your K-12 students for an evening packed with hands-on science experiments, interactive STEM activities, and spooky surprises - all inside the Kennedy Experimental Mine Building! After participating in creepy, cool science experiments, K-12 students will be granted access to tour the mine for free from 4-8pm, courtesy of the STEM Center. The mine will be open from 4-6 pm with lights on for a kid-friendly tour, before the scares begin at 6 pm. Costumes are welcome, canned goods are encouraged, and fun is guaranteed! See the flyer below for more details.
Engineering Day
February 26, 2026 (7-12th grade)
Missouri S&T is known for our vast number of high caliber Engineering Departments. The Kummer Center for STEM Education teams up with these departments to allow middle and high school students to engage and experience the variety of opportunities there are behind the word "Engineer." The departments will take students on tours, do demonstrations, offer hands-on activities, and provide workshops to show exactly what they do.
STEM Exploration Day
May 6, 2026 (K-6th grade)
The Kummer Center for STEM Education is dedicated to kids. We believe that young, engaged minds are the best path to a bright future. We want students of all ages to know that they should shoot for the stars. In this field trip, we bring high level STEM experience to an elementary level. Our departments come together to offer what they do in a way a young mind can engage in. This is done through fascinating hands-on activities and exciting demonstrations.
