Vision
We inspire curiosity and innovation by providing engaging, hands-on experiences for K-12 students on campus, in schools, and throughout communities. We partner with K-12 educators, school districts, Missouri S&T faculty, staff, students, and various industry partners to provide high-quality STEM learning opportunities, teacher training, and workforce development. Our aim is to strengthen the pipeline of future STEM educators and professionals by ensuring that every student - regardless of background - has the opportunity to discover their potential in STEM.
As a leading STEM institution, Missouri S&T is committed to not only fostering a passion for STEM, but also actively recruiting and supporting the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators. Through our collaborative efforts, we seek to connect aspiring students with the resources, mentorship, and pathways needed to pursue higher education and future careers in STEM at Missouri S&T.
Mission
The Kummer Center for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education is committed to expanding the community of young people engaged in STEM by inspiring all learners to explore, grow, and thrive. We strive to provide equal access and opportunity to all students, particularly those who may have limited opportunities to explore STEM fields. Through broad connections, meaningful support, and deep respect for every student, we work to meet the needs of all learners - empowering them to engage in STEM, embrace hard work, and pursue limitless possibilities.
Priorities
The Center’s key priorities at its inception will be to provide high quality teacher professional development in STEM content areas and develop an inventory of resources and experiences aimed to inspire student engagement and awareness of STEM-related careers.
- Resources and experiences will include summer camps, a mobile STEM lab, field trips, after-school programs, teacher conferences and workshops, research experiences for teachers and students, and community outreach events. The Center’s flexible space in designed for interactivity and collaboration in support of these mission-centered activities.
